The Artist
Hello and welcome. I’m Rella, a paper cut artist and digital illustrator.
Art has always been a world of discovery for me, one I explored growing up and then reconnected with during the uncertainty of the pandemic. In search of a way to manage anxiety and isolation, I initially turned to quilling, an ancient Japanese paper art, which quickly became a meditative practice. This journey led me to explore the intricate world of paper cutting and digital illustration, two mediums that have allowed me to connect deeply with my love for nature, geometry and my Jewish heritage.
I am entirely self-taught, which has given me the freedom to explore and innovate within my craft. My background as a data professional often surprises people when they learn about my art practice, as they see these fields as opposites. However, art and mathematics are profoundly interconnected for me. Both are about patterns, structure and the beauty of exploration with precision.
My work is an expression of these intersections—where the natural world meets the logical, and tradition blends with the contemporary. Through my art, I hope to convey a sense of harmony, where every cut of paper is a balance between intuition and calculation, creativity and structure.
